Pierced nipples are a form of body art intending to enhance the beauty of the human body. While serving as an aesthetic enhancement, pierced nipples can also serve as an erotic stimulant for both sexes. Piercings are not permanent, so if you get one and decide you don't like it, you can simply remove it, although some minor scarring may occur.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A body artist
  • Gold stud

Step1
Choose your artist. Though some may prefer to pierce their nipples themselves, it can be a dangerous procedure to perform and should best be left to professionals. Find an artist with whom you're comfortable. If you are a female, you'll have to expose your breast, so an appropriate level of comfort is necessary. Additionally, with any body art, choosing an artist whose work you admire can only be helpful. Look for a body artist with a solid reputation and a long history of satisfied customers.
Step2
Select a piercing and style. Nipple piercings can be either horizontal or vertical. Most choose horizontal, but it's really a matter of taste. You'll also need to choose the stud (the first nipple ring that you'll wear while the piercing heals). Most piercing artists recommend a solid gold stud.
Step3
Ensure that the entire breast area and all surgical tools have been sterilized. Though any reputable piercing artist will be very hygienic, a quick, cursory inspection of the premises will set your mind at ease that everything is safe. If you see or sense any dirty utensils, speak up about your concerns.
Step4
Brace for a quick stab. The piercer will tell you when they're about to push the needle through. As long as you're expecting a little pain, you should be fine.
Step5
Allow for proper healing. You'll need to clean and maintain your new nipple piercing until it is completely healed. In the short term, you might even need to take some pain relievers to alleviate the soreness.

Tips & Warnings

  • Nipple piercings can take up to 1 year to fully heal. If you are a woman plannning to have children in the near future, you may want to wait before you get your nipple pierced, as a nipple ring must be healed and removable before a baby can breast feed. However, all evidence suggests that nipple piercings have no effect on a woman's ability to produce breast milk or to breast feed, as long as the ring can be taken out.
  • Having your nipple pierced is somewhat painful. As long as you're expecting a quick surge of pain, however, most people agree that it is a tolerable amount that can be handled without any medication.
  • Nipple piercings can easily become infected. To prevent any unnecessary complications, clean the nipple and ring with antibacterial soap twice a day until the piercing has properly healed.
  • A piercing is a wound and your body will react accordingly. It is not uncommon for bruises, tenderness, scabs and other crusts to appear for several weeks after a piercing.
