The first mini golf course ever built was created in Scotland at the famed St. Andrews Golf Club. It was called The Ladies' Putting Club of St. Andrews. Pinehurst, North Carolina was home to the first United States miniature golf course, with Thistle Dhu created in 1916. Today, miniature golf has made the transition from outdoor fun to online play. Now, you are never rained out and can play in a controlled environment all year.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Flash player for your web browser
  1. Step 1

Visit the arcade section at Yahoo! games to find the mini golf game (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Scroll down and click "All" to show all of the games in the arcade section. Then, scroll down to find mini golf.

  3. Step 3

Go to the mini golf game by clicking the game icon, name or "Go Now" button.

  4. Step 4

Start the game by clicking the "Start" word on the screen.

  5. Step 5

Swing your mouse around the golf ball to get to the direction you will hit the ball. You should have the arrow on the opposite side of the ball from the hole.

  6. Step 6

Adjust the power of the stroke by increasing the length of the arrow to hit the ball harder. Shorten the arrow to hit the ball softer. Try to gauge how hard you have to hit the ball by how far away from the hole you are located.

  7. Step 7

Click the left mouse button when you have the strength of the putt and direction determined.

  8. Step 8

Reach each hole in as few strokes as possible, and go on to the next hole.

  9. Step 9

Remember what your lowest score is for the nine-hole course, and try to beat it on the next game.

Tips & Warnings
  • Like all games of miniature golf, Yahoo! Mini Golf requires geometry to figure out the angles needed to hit the ball into the cup.
  • When close to a side wall, move the cursor where you intend to hit the ball to, and then look at the spot on the wall where the arrow now points. When you line up your putt, put the arrow at the spot on the wall you just selected. You may make many more putts and hit better angles this way.
  • Don't move the mouse right before you putt, or you may misalign the putt.
