Solitaire has been a popular card game for centuries. It was called "Patience" at its beginning. While in exile, Napoleon Bonaparte is reported to have played patience for hours on end. Solitaire gained increased popularity when Microsoft installed a Solitaire game on all Windows-based systems, starting with Windows 3.1. Interestingly, the man who put Solitaire on Microsoft computers was a college student interning with Microsoft. He never received a salary for creating this game. Yahoo!! offers a great online Aloha Solitaire experience.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Scroll through the card games at Yahoo!! and click on the Aloha Solitaire game (see Resources below). It should be near the top if the games are listed in alphabetical order.
Step2
Select the "Play Web Game" box to play this game right away, without downloading the game or purchasing it.
Step3
Look for two cards with matching face values on the pyramid of cards. For example, match a 10 of spades with a 10 of diamonds or a king of spades with a king of clubs.
Step4
Select each card by clicking one card at a time. The cards will be moved from the pyramid automatically.
Step5
Flip the top three cards in the draw pile by clicking the stack of cards on the bottom, left-hand corner. Three cards will move into the nearby spots, revealing the face of each card.
Step6
Play cards from the three recently turned over cards if they match cards on the pyramid. You can match two cards from the draw pile to get to cards that may match those on the pyramid.
Step7
Continue matching cards within the pyramid or from the draw pile until the pyramid no longer has any left.
Step8
Prepare for a new pyramid of cards after completing the first group of cards. You will start the most recent draw-pile turn over, but you will not get an additional draw-pile turn. For example, you finish the pyramid with one use of the draw pile available and you will have one use of the entire draw pile left, not two.
Step9
Get the highest score possible by matching cards and making it through the pyramids.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your web browser must allow pop-up windows for the Yahoo!! games to open properly.
  • Remember, you have a limited number of times you can sort through the pile of cards (three), even if you clear the pyramid out.
  • Try to get rid of the outside cards on the pyramid to reveal more cards in Aloha Solitaire by Yahoo!!.
