Beautiful, natural looking highlights without spending a large sum on continuous salon visits are easier than you think. These common home products can help enhance your color, as wells as add depth.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • lemon juice
  • olive oil
  • hibiscus tea
  • chamois tea
  • beet juice
Step1
FOR BLONDES: steep chamois tea in one cup water for two minutes. Add one tablespoons lemon juice. Place both in spray bottle and generously cover entire head. in the sun and enjoy as your hair lightens.
Step2
FOR REDHEADS: steep hibiscus tea in one cup water for two minutes. Add one tablespoon red beet juice. Place in spray bottle and generously cover entire head. Sit in the sun and enjoy your red hues deepen and add variance.
Step3
FOR ALL HAIR COLORS: To lighten and add extra shine, use olive oil. Depending on hair thickness and length, comb through a generous amount, and sit in the sun.

Tips & Warnings

  • the length of time you stay in the sun will change how these tips affect your hair. On the first time, stay out short periods of time, checking periodically to achieve the desired effect.
  • when using lemon juice, spray mixture on hair, NOT SCALP!
  • when using red beet juice BE CAREFUL, it stains!

on 3/24/2008 Thanks, Almoll for this money saver tips. And, childhistory, I was about to bring up the same comment about chamois and chamomile but you did it first. I am sure you are right, but hey, they both give highlights to two of our most cherished possessions--our crowning glory and our touring one. I can see why the fingers got confused here. :))
