Ok, so you probably don’t have your own personal trainer who comes in and teaches you a proper fitness plan for weight loss or the correct nutrition for weight control – or why would you be reading this! You have probably tried several diet plans looking for reviews on the best results, and yet you are still looking, trying to stop the never ending weight gain! Could it be that we pretty much already know how to lose weight but are just not motivated enough to do what it takes? Probably so! So let’s start today and get our health into a position of high priority in our lives, starting with sleep!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 8 hours
  • Clean bedroom
  • Good mattress
  • Soft sheets
  • Earplugs

Step1
Sleep. What? That is the opposite of exercise! Yes, you must first understand that sleep is essential to life. Humans are not immune to the life-threatening effects of sleeplessness. Did you know that a survey conducted by the American Cancer Society found that people who sleep 6 hours or less per night had a death rate 30 percent higher than those who regularly slept 7 to 8 hours. That means that by doing nothing at all you can improve your odds of living by 30 percent! Wow! Can you handle it! You don’t even have to ask your doctor!
Step2
Next, look at your bed. Is it a place that you would like to stay in for 8 hours? Give it a little importance to your sleep and allow yourself to budget in some good sheets and pillows. Is your mattress giving you good support? Maybe you need to upgrade to some memory foam. I have a combination of extra firm foam and a topping of memory foam. Get a mattress cover and stuff the foam in for your own version of a ‘pedic’ mattress at a fraction of the cost.
Step3
Now look around your room. Is it a quiet place or a TV room! There is nothing wrong with watching TV in your bed as long as you can discipline yourself to turn it off early enough to get the 8 hours of sleep you are working on. What do you hear? Are there noises that might distract your sleep? Maybe there is nothing you can do to stop the noise – so invest in a set of ear plugs.
Step4
Sniff. Yes, you read right – how does it smell in your room? Is it stuffy? I presume that you do not smoke in bed or in your bedroom – that is a whole different arena of health care! Can you open a window – fresh air is so good to control the amount of carbon dioxide that can fill a closed bedroom during the night.
Step5
Clean. Ok, it might be a dirty word – but it is not as bad as diet! You can do it! Freshen those sheets with a weekly washing. Shake out your quilts. Wash your windows and dust the sills. Vacuum. Get rid of clutter. When you lay back to rest your eyes should not wander around the room sensing all the things that still need to be taken care of. Put some inspiring but calm pictures on the walls that you can enjoy staring at.
Step6
So take note. After doing these steps see how you sleep. Is it any better? It should be!
