Instructions

    • 1

Decide what size caddy you are willing to maintain. For some, it may be as simple as a shoebox with some crayons, a glue stick and a pad of paper. You can also do it as big as a 6 drawer plastic organizer purchased at a local Walmart or the like. Purchase the caddy you will use.

Gather all of the art supplies you currently have in your home that you would like to organize. Separate them in piles by item. Crayons, paper, stickers, glue sticks, paints, even playdoh canisters and accessories.

    • 3

Assign a drawer or box for each category. Keep all writing and coloring utensils together, all different types of papers, another drawer for playdoh or clay, another for pipe cleaners, cotton balls and other various creative items.

    • 4

Assign a practical spot for the caddy. Keep it in the playroom or corner of the kitchen...a place that you can supervise the kids but won't be so nervous about a mess that you don't let them play and create freely. Spend time with the children showing them each drawer and help them understand that they can work on a certain project, but then return the items to the proper drawer.

Have fun! You can have fun knowing that glue and sparkles won't be splattered all over the living room, and the kids have fun figuring out what craft they can work on!
