Photoshop Elements 3 has a place where a person can set up their own "brush". This article will tell you how to go about using one of your own images as a "brush".

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Photoshop elements 3 or higher

Step1
Firstly, either open up one of your images in photoshop or make an image up. The best kind is a silhouette type of an image.
Step2
Then take that image that you have selected and resize it to around 200 by 200 pixels, resolution 72.
Step3
Then go to the brush menu and select a brush, any brush is fine.
Step4
Then go to the "edit" menu at the top and select "define brush". PRESTO: your image that you have selected becomes the "brush"
Step5
You need to name this new "brush". It will then appear in the brushes menu.
Step6
Open up a blank practice canvas and select your new "brush" and paint with it, and watch what happens. YOu can paint or just "dab" as if the brush were a rubber stamp! Makes some really cool effects!
