Rehoming a beloved pet or selling an unexpected litter can often be a difficult and frustrating process. However, there are steps that you can take to make things easier. First, ask yourself if you're rehoming or selling your animal (there is a difference). "Rehoming" is a term often used for an animal or reptile that has been kept as a household pet. "Selling" is usually referred to an animal or reptile that has been slated for sale since conception and/or birth.
Once you've established which category you fall under, you're free to take the next appropriate step.
Step2
If you're a breeder and are looking to sell an animal, registering with the AKC, posting an ad with your local newspaper and/or developing your own website is the best way to go.
For those who find themselves with an unexpected liter, going to a rescue or placing an ad on locale websites like Craigslist would be ideal. Newspapers are often more flexible than some websites, but you have to pay a small advertising fee.
Step3
For rehoming purposes, you might want to ask friends and co-workers for help. Posing an on-line ad with locally free websites like eHow also works.
Remember: rescues and shelters are always available should you need them.

Note: If you post an animal on the adoption page of any website and ask for a fee of more than $100, your ad may get flagged and/or removed.

Be leery and cautious when posting a pet needing a home on a website or newspaper listing, often times research and bio-medical companies search through these and pretend to pose falsely for the intention of using your "rehoming" pets for testing purposes - clearly a horrendous fate all due to being lazy when properly searching for a good home!
