On a daily basis, many people are receiving emails that appear to be officially from eBay. However, nearly all of these emails are not from eBay, but from individuals that are trying to retrieve your personal information so that they may commit a crime.

The first step to recognizing an official email from eBay is to be very leary of emails that are requesting you to submit personal information.

If you have an eBay account, you must understand that the electronic communications that you receive from them will refrain from asking from information, such as your password, account numbers associated with your bank account and/or credit card, and similar items.

If eBay needs this type of information from you, you can see an official and legitimate email in your inbox on the eBay website.

Step3

It is essential that you NEVER click on any of the links that are contained within an email that appears to be from eBay. If the message seems important, close the message out and open a new browser window. Once you do this, type in eBay and sign in directly at the website. If there is anything that you should be aware of, you can check in your inbox to see if you have been contacted by the eBay team. If not, then the message is not official.

If you feel that you have received a fake email, forward it to spoof@ebay.com. They will work to identify and resolve the issue.
