You will learn how to choose a Halloween costume that's right for you, no matter what the budget.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Figure out what plans you'll be having for Halloween this year. Is your work having a party? A lot of companies now a days show some Halloween spirit, but that doesn't mean wearing a sexy lady bug costume to the company shindig will work out as well as donning a pair of pumpkin antennae to the office instead. It's just like how being a massive box of Nerds doesn't work out so well if you are going to be club hopping via cabs in New York. Consider WHERE you are actually going to be wearing your costume before you make your decision.
Step2
Now that you know where you are going with your costume, figure out who is going to be there. Are you going alone? With a significant other? Do you want to dress to impress? Do you know people who will be there? Consider partnering up with another to create a bigger splash at half the price. Take the time to think about who you could partner up with or if you want to be individual with your costume.
Step3
Now you will need to decide the type of attention you want to receive from your costume. If "just passing off as one of the dressed up crowd" is good enough for you, well then go buy an eye patch with a pirate skull on it, and congratulations, you're done. However, if you want to get noticed, enter a contest or really make a scene you will need to put some time or serious money, or even both, into your Halloween costume.
Step4
Okay. Your next step is figuring out what type of genre fits your Halloween style and your personality. Will you feel comfortable all night in a short toga? Are you the type of person who enjoys wearing a rubber mask for 3 hours? Does history mean a lot to you? Do you care about the environment? Are you politically motivated right now? Read any good books lately? Hey what's that crazy T.V. Show you watch weekly? You get the idea. Take a moment to figure out a genre this year that's important to you and use it have fun on Halloween.
Step5
Now that you've found your style, look around the house to see if you have already have anything fitting into the genre. For example, if you've chosen music perhaps your roommate will let you borrow his broken guitar. If you've chosen politics, choose a politician you respect, and Google them. In fact Google can help to search for famous people within your selected genre. If your genre is funny, well than you better start throwing wacky creative things together. Like sausage and lampshades. And if your style is gore, you may want to spend some bucks at the Halloween store buying scary make up and effects.
