Things You'll Need:
- Lock
- Bump Key
-
Step 1
The first thing you'll need to open a specific lock is the bump key. Understand that not just any bump key will do. A bump key must be made for that specific model and brand of lock. It is not a master key that will open any lock, but rather a key that fits in the lock but will not open it under normal conditions.
-
Step 2
First you must make or acquire the bump key. To make one simply buy a blank duplicate of the original key to the lock. The easier method is to buy a pre-made bump key. There are several sites out there that sell pre-made bump keys for almost any lock. A 20 key set can be purchased for as little at 30 dollars. With a set such as that you could open almost any lock. However if you'd rather make one its fairly simple.

Step 3
Take the blank duplicate. Use a file to file small valleys into the key like the image shows.

Step 4
After you have matched the above image you now have your bump key. They way a bump key works is by inserting it into the lock and pulling it out one click. Then turning the key in the direction used to unlock the lock with a certain degree on pressure; which you'll know by trial and error. Then simply hit the end of the key bumping it all the way into the lock. By bumping the key each peak on the bump key hits each pin in the lock jolting them upwards. When this happens, and if done correctly, the pins aligns and the lock opens. Very simple concept.
