Instead of purchasing a birthday card and a gift this year, give your friend the card and gift rolled into one. Edible birthday cards are as fun to make as they are to eat. The following will show you how to create a birthday card that will fill their tummies as well as their hearts.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 package pre-made sugar cookie dough
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie sheet
  • Egg yolk
  • Food coloring
  • Paint brushes
Step1
Place the contents of a package of pre-made sugar cookie dough onto a greased cookie sheet. Roll the sugar cookie dough out with a rolling pin.
Step2
Make a rectangle shape out of the dough.
Step3
Separate an egg yolk and beat the yolk in a small bowl. Discard the remaining egg.
Step4
Add 3 or 4 drops of food coloring to the beaten egg yolk. Make as many colors as you like.
Step5
Paint the egg yolk and food coloring mixture onto your card. Use a light base color. Add your "Happy Birthday" message, decorations and pictures with varying paint brushes.
Step6
Add candy sprinkles or colored sugar sprinkles onto your card for added decoration.
Step7
Bake the cookie in the oven as per the packaging directions. Let the cookie completely cool. Wrap it in colored plastic wrap and put a bow on it or tie a ribbon around. Your gift is ready for giving.
