Make festive candle holders for your Thanksgiving table out of real pumpkins. These candle holders can provide a centerpiece for your table and you can make them as a family project. The following steps will show you how to make pumpkin candle holders.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mini-pumpkins
  • Candles
  • Knife
  1. Step 1

Choose healthy-looking mini-pumpkins. You can purchase these pumpkins at any grocery store during the fall.

  2. Step 2

Purchase long-stemmed candles for each pumpkin candle holder you make. Choose Thanksgiving colors, such as yellow, brown, red or orange, or colors that match your table's place settings.

  3. Step 3

Cut a hole at the top center of the mini-pumpkin with a knife. Make the hole just slightly smaller than the candle you will be using.

  4. Step 4

Put the candle into the hole in the center of the pumpkin. Hold the bottom of the candle and apply slight pressure to get the candle into the pumpkin. Push it down as far as it will go.

  5. Step 5

Put your candles in the middle of your table. Place flowers or dried Indian corn around the pumpkins to make a beautiful centerpiece. You also can set them out by themselves.

  6. Step 6

Light the candles and enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner by candlelight.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure the candle is straight when putting it into the pumpkin. Set the pumpkin on the table and adjust the candle until it is completely straight.
  • Instead of pumpkins, you can use green or yellow apples or make a combination of these.
  • You can also paint your pumpkins with poster paint if you desire.
  • You don't have to wait for Thanksgiving to enjoy this centerpiece. Use your candles anytime when the pumpkins are in season to get into an autumnal mood.
