How to Make Car Wax

Making your own car wax is easy to do and will eliminate any chemicals that may be in commercial car wax. Waxing your car with this homemade item not only makes the car look beautiful with its new shine, it also helps to protect the car's finish from the burning rays of the sun and inclement weather.

Things You'll Need

  • 8 oz. Carnauba wax
  • 2 tbsp. yellow beeswax
  • 16 fluid oz. turpentine
  • 1 tbsp. pine oil

    • 5

Dip a clean towel or rag into the mixture to polish your car.

    • 6

Polish the area to a shine with a soft clean cloth, towel or rag.

Tips & Warnings

  • For the best results wax your car when the temperature is below 85 degrees and above 50 degrees.

  • This mixture will make enough for one car waxing.

  • Buy Carnauba wax at most hardware, craft and music stores.

  • You can substitute 8 oz. ceresin wax for the carnauba wax.

  • Wax your car in sections to prevent over drying of the wax on the car.

  • Dirt on your car attacks the paintwork and ages the car's surface.
