How to Replace Golf Club Grips
Keep your clubs in tip-top shape by performing continual, reliable maintenance. One important maintenance routine is replacing your golf club grips at least before the beginning of every new golf season, if not again during the mid-season, depending on your average weekly use and the climate in your area. Follow a few easy steps for replacing your golf club grips.

1
Use a vice or C-clamp to secure the club to a stable workbench. Make sure the grip is totally exposed, which will provide you with a better, more workable area.
-
2
Cut the grip using a razor blade or other sharp tool. Start at the shaft and work up toward the end of the club.

3
Pull the old grip off the club and clean the club. Focusing on the area where the old grip was, use a wet towel or brush and remove any remnant left by the grip. Wipe the entire shaft down and allow it to dry completely.
-
4
Adhere double-sided tape to the shaft as far down as the length of the new grip. Measure twice to ensure you have the correct length, and remove the tape backing.
-
5
Drizzle a small amount of solvent on the taped area to provide lubrication for the new grip.
-
6
Line up the club with the new grip and slide it quickly, pushing at the head of the club. After removing the club from the vice, place it headfirst on the floor, and make any minor adjustments.
