How to Tie a Monkey's Fist Knot
The Monkey Fist Knot was first used in sailing to add weight to the end of a rope when throwing it. This rope knot is also used in rock climbing and hiking when throwing a rope over or around sturdy trees or rocks. Tying a Monkey Fist Knot is easy. Make yours as large as you need it to be.

Place the rope in the palm of your hand. Leave about 3 inches below the bottom of your hand to tighten the rope.

Separate your fingers. Pass the end of the rope over the wrapped rope and between the fingers in the middle. Horizontally wrap the end of the rope down and around the wrapped ropes two times and then wrap the end of the rope around just one side of ropes once.

Slide the rope off your fingers. Hold the bottom of the loop between your forefinger and thumb. Vertically wrap the end of the rope around inside pieces three times.

5
Wrap the rope inside the vertical loop across the horizontal loop and loop around three times.
