Getting a BattleBots sponsor is a lot of work and can easily require as much effort as it took to build your robot. Sponsors are an essential part of your BattleBots team and usually keep in touch with the bot-builders through all of the trials and tribulations, from construction to destruction. Most sponsors are happy to help and participate, even if the BattleBot doesn't place well, and for the money they donate, they win free, national TV advertisement.

1. Put as much time and energy into finding a sponsor as you put into your precious fighting machine. This includes organizing a fine-tuned presentation of how you will build your bot. Believe it or not, there are people out there who have no clue about the competition, so it is a good idea to include a video clip of the "BattleBots" show as part of your presentation.
2. Look for sponsorship from larger businesses that will be attracted to the attention that national TV can bring. The Internet is a useful tool for seeking potential sponsorship and learning about their products. Think about the "BattleBots" show's target audience and focus on companies that you think would be attracted to reaching that demographic. For example, a high-end cosmetics company would probably not be the best choice, but a video game producer would be a great match.
3. Treat potential sponsors like your only interest, but ask as many companies as possible, since most sponsors are going to say no. But don't get discouraged.
