Krav Maga is unusual among martial arts in that it has few hard-and-fast styles. Rather, it is a collection of techniques and an aggressive style combined to make one of the most lethal martial arts in the world. Designed to deal with real-world situations such as muggings, Krav Maga is ideal for practical and easy self-defense. Here's what to do if you are ever attacked by a knife.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stay calm; getting excited or panicking can make a bad day worse. Krav Maga stresses lots of high intensity drilling to help practitioners learn to stay calm in real-life combat situations.

  2. Step 2

Wait until the attacker stabs at you with the knife and then block the attacker's forearm with your forearm, while simultaneously jabbing your attacker in the throat with your other fist.

  3. Step 3

Push off the attacker with both arms. Assuming you have landed both of your strikes and timed properly, your attacker should have already dropped with a crushed windpipe, but in the real world everything doesn't always work out perfectly, so it is a good idea to get clear of your attacker in case he strikes again.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you get into a knife fight, you are more than likely going to get cut. This is not always life-threatening. A slash wound has little chance of causing any major injury or shock. A stab wound, on the other hand, can easily damage vital organs and cause internal bleeding.
  • You always want to stay out of range of a knife attack if you can, so first try to avoid your attacker before committing to the block.
