How to Make Eudora Vista's Default Mail Program
The organization of Windows Vista is much different from that of previous operating systems. The names, places and appearance of many of the parts of Vista have received a complete change since Windows XP. This can confuse even the most computer-savvy individuals, leaving them wondering how to do even simple tasks. At the top of the standard Vista Start menu, Microsoft has added quick links to the default browser and mail program, but many people prefer other programs. These defaults are configurable, but the process is surprisingly complex.

Click the "Start" button to open the Vista "Start" menu and select "Default Programs" from the list on the right side.

Open "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults" from the list. If a box comes up asking for permission to proceed, click "Continue." Vista uses those boxes to keep users from accidentally changing something they shouldn't.

Tips & Warnings
If you load Eudora and it asks if you want it to be the default mail program, you can select "Yes." This will override the standard process, but it will not change Vista's settings.
