How to Shop in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is best known for its gambling, elaborate shows and megaresorts. But "Sin City" is also home to a variety of excellent shopping opportunities. In fact, unlike cookie-cutter malls in, say, Albuquerque or Atlanta, the shopping centers in Las Vegas offer unique, dramatically displayed merchandise. Luxury shoppers and bargain hunters can both find plenty to interest them.

Explore the shopping arcades. There are the Grande Canal Shops at the Venetian, the "Boulevard" at Paris Vegas and the Via Bellagio at the Bellagio Resort, just to name a few. Stores at these "over-the-top" shopping malls include outlets for the world's top designers as well as popular stores like Virgin Records and the Disney Store. There are also unique gift stores, art galleries and Southwest clothing and leather stores.

Visit the Fashion Show Mall. The original Vegas shopping mall is still a good place to shop. The Fashion Show Mall, located in the heart of the Strip near Treasure Island, offers scores of retailers, including Macy's, Sak's Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.

Remember the outlets. Just outside of town, Las Vegas offers a number of outlet shopping centers, offering significant savings on designer clothing, housewares, shoes and children's items. Among these are Las Vegas Premium Outlets, located just 5 minutes from the Strip; Las Vegas Outlet Center, on the far southern end of the Strip; and Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas, located about 30 minutes from the Strip in Primm, Nevada.
