It can be hard to narrow down what you are looking for when performing a search of the vast and ever-growing Internet. When you are looking for one specific thing, an advanced search is the way to go. Ask's advanced search feature takes a little more time than performing a normal search, but you can save the time you would otherwise spend going through unwanted search results.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Click on "Advanced" under the search box on the Ask website.
Step2
Narrow your search results with specific words and phrases to include or not include in your search. In the "All of the Words" field, enter a number of words you want your search results to contain. If the order of words matters, such as a phrase, enter the words into the "The Exact Phrase" section. To exclude any words from your search, enter them in the "None of the Words" field.
Step3
Choose a location of the words in the next advanced search section. If you want your words to be the main focus of the website, choose "In Page Title." If you just want them to be mentioned on the website, leave the section blank. You can also search for words that appear in the URL of websites in this section.
Step4
Pick a language to search only websites in a certain language, or a country to search for websites that originate in a certain country.
Step5
Perform your search based on how up-to-date the page is by making a selection from the "Page Modified" option menu.
Step6
Search a particular website by using the "Domain" field. Enter search words. Then type in a domain name such as "www.ehow.com," and the Ask advanced search engine will search only those words on the website you enter.
