According to a Harvard study, women who were attempting to conceive were three times more likely to do so when taking a fertility-based yoga course than those who did not. Of the many benefits fertility- based yoga provides, stress relief, strengthening and toning muscles, and balancing reproductive organs/hormones are most important for women hoping to improve fertility.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Reduce stress. Stress can greatly affect the ability to conceive. It can even cause the body's hormones to be thrown off balance. Special breathing techniques practiced in yoga can calm the body and mind, eliminating negative thought patterns.

  2. Step 2

Practice fertility-enhancing poses. There are certain poses in yoga that focus on various body parts, like the reproductive organs and pelvic area. These poses were developed to increase blood circulation to the targeted area, stimulating energy. The reproductive region of the body is known as the second chakra, or seat of creation. There are specific poses designed to soften the abdominal area and clear tension from the uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes.

  3. Step 3

Balance hormone levels. Many of the poses practiced in a fertility yoga series can improve glandular function resulting in stabilized hormones.

  4. Step 4

Assume the position. The yoga pose, Viprarita Kirani, is a pose that a woman can assume immediately following intercourse. Holding this position for as long as possible keeps sperm in the best position for conception.

Tips & Warnings
  • For best results, use a fertility-based yoga course in conjunction with medical treatment.
