One of the most powerful features of Apple's video editing software is the integrated nature of the Final Cut Pro suite. Files can easily be moved from Final Cut Pro to Soundtrack to take advantage of the powerful audio features in that program. There are actually multiple ways to move files from one program to another depending on the user's needs.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Export entire sequences for later use with Soundtrack by selecting the desired sequence and then choosing "File" from the commands at the top of the Final Cut Pro window.

  2. Step 2

Select "Export" and then "For Soundtrack." A panel will appear asking for details, such as where the file should be stored and what it should be named. It is best to use the default settings that include all audio markers placed into the track by Final Cut Pro. After the proper name and location is selected, press "save."

  3. Step 3

Move audio directly to an existing Soundtrack project by highlighting the desired audio in the Timeline. If the desired audio track cannot be selected without the corresponding video, press the "Apple" button and "L" to unlink the tracks. This also unlinks the two audio stereo tracks; select "both," and press the "Apple" button and "L" again to link them.

  4. Step 4

Choose "Send To" from under the File command and then "Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project."

  5. Step 5

Enter a Save As title, and direct the computer where to save a copy of the file. Press "save" and Soundtrack Pro will automatically open with the audio track loaded and ready to edit. A version of the file will also appear under the project resources in File Cut Pro.
