Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Research the leading environmental organizations to learn about environmental issues and get informed about upcoming protests and rallies you can attend. Check out the websites for the Sierra Club, EnviroLink and the League of Conservation Voters. Sign up for these organization's mailing lists so you can stay up-to-date on environmental issues.
Step2
Visit the website for the Action Network. Action Network is an online community for environmental activists. The organization mobilizes activists to act together in campaigning for environmental causes and alerts them to environmental problems which they can have an impact on.
Step3
Write letters to the editor and send them to newspapers in your area. Focus on environmental issues that directly affect the newspapers readers. Tell them how everyone is affected by the issue and what they can do about it.
Step4
Contact your congressional representatives, state legislators, mayor and city council members and urge them support environmental policies you favor. Encourage others to do the same to start a letter writing campaign.
Step5
Educate people in your community on ways they can protect the environment in their day-to-day life. Research energy efficiency and conservation methods and tell people how they can implement the methods.
Step6
Believe you can make a difference. If you believe one person can make a difference in a cause, you stand a better chance to convincing others to get behind your cause.
