If you're worried whether your child is getting enough nutrients while eating in the school cafeteria, you can limit his consumption of unhealthy snacks. Pack him a healthy lunch box.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take your child on a school lunch supply shopping trip to the grocery store.

  2. Step 2

Show her all the healthy or acceptable snacks that have your approval. Give her the opportunity to pick her choice of snacks from your list. This way you won't waste your money on snacks she doesn't like.

  3. Step 3

Plan your child's school lunch using the food pyramid guide. Include at least one item from each level of the pyramid. This ensures that he will eat a balanced, healthy lunch.

  4. Step 4

Buy a lunch box that can hold all the food you are packing.

  5. Step 5

Pack a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a meat sandwich with some lettuce, a slice of tomato and light mayonnaise.

  6. Step 6

Add a fruit or a vegetable to her lunch; let her pick the fruit or vegetable so that way you know she will eat it.

  7. Step 7

Include a bottle of fresh cold water. You can freeze his water bottle overnight and he will have icy cold water to drink by lunchtime. A juice or milk box is also a good option but avoid packing sodas.

  8. Step 8

Throw in a treat occasionally. There are healthy treats available in the store or you can make healthy homemade desserts.

  9. Step 9

Write a surprise note and pack it in his lunch box. This message of love or a joke will complete your child's healthy lunch meal.
