How to Make Wine Bags
Fine wine makes a great gift for a party host. Decorating a wine bottle with a wine bag is an easy way to wrap it and display the wine. This design for a wine bag is simple and requires minimal sewing. Make it out of any fabric to fit any wine bottle. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 yard of fabric
- Wine bottle
- Scissors
- Needle and thread
- 1/2-inch wide decorative ribbon

Purchase 1 yard of thin fabric, such as cotton, silk or satin. The ribbon must complement the inside of the fabric.

Spread the fabric out onto a flat surface. Iron the fabric if it is wrinkled.

Place the wine bottle in the center of the fabric. Pull the fabric up around the neck of the wine bottle.

Trim off the excess fabric. Leave enough fabric to cover the top or cut it so the neck of the bottle sticks out. Remove the wine bottle from the fabric.

Hem 1/2 inch around the edge of the fabric. Put the bottle back in the middle of the fabric.

Pull the fabric up and around the bottle. Tie the ribbon in a bow around the neck of the bottle. Add small decorations or a gift tag to the ribbon.

Tips & Warnings
Use these decorative bags for champagne or any other bottle you want to dress up.
For a more elegant bag, layer a translucent or laced fabric on top of a solid colored fabric. Hem the fabrics together.
Tie a small cork screw into the bow on the ribbon for added decoration and convenience.
