How to Make a Retro CD Wallet
A CD wallet is a case that hold CDs, DVDs, CD-ROMs and DVD-ROMs. You can store them without cases by using a retro CD wallet. It is designed to protect CDs and other disks while looking fashionably retro. With about 20 minutes and some supplies, you can complete this project.

1
Remove the stickers from the floppy disks with a sticker remover such as Goo Gone or DeSolveit. Clean the residue from the disk with a paper towel.
-
2
Cut off the bottom of the floppy disk above the 2 notches on the edge of the disk. Remove the disk from inside the floppy and discard it.
-
-
3
Measure each floppy disk and poke two holes in the bottom of each disk. The holes should be 1/2 inch from the side and 1/2 inch from the uncut end of the disk. Punch 1 hole in the middle of the disk 1/2 inch the top.
-
4
Open the binder rings and place the disks through the holes at the bottom of the floppy disk. Binder rings are large silver rings that open and close easily.
-
5
Close the binder rings and slide the CDs into the empty floppy disks.
-
6
Feed the ribbon, leather or chain through the holes in the top of the wallet. Tie or clip it together. This keeps the CDs from falling out of the retro wallet.

Tips & Warnings
The floppy disks have an interior foam padding to protect the CDs.
If you do not have any old floppy disks, check at thrift stores or with friends and neighbors.
Always use gloves when working with sticker remover. Use the sticker remover in a ventilated area.
Do not allow the sticker remover to get inside the disk. The solvent damages the interior padding.
