Step 1
Place a queen on the bottom of the deck and carefully shuffle the cards, while making sure that you keep the queen on the bottom.

Divide the deck into 4 separate piles, placing them face down on a table. Remember which pile has the Queen at the bottom.

Ask a volunteer to choose a card from any of the piles. Tell them to look at it, but not show it to you. Ask them to place the card back in the deck.

Reassemble the deck of cards, placing the bottom pile on top of the selected card. This will allow you to identify the card chosen by the volunteer, as it will be directly below the Queen. Put the other 2 piles on top.

Step 5
Ask the volunteer to cut the pile again, if they happen to select the top card of a pile, so that the Queen will still be on top of their chosen card.

Cut the deck about half way through, cutting as far away as possible from their selected card. Spread out the cards face-up on the table.

Step 7
Take a few moments to gaze pensively at the faces of the cards. Then reach for the volunteers card, surprising everyone with your "magical" powers.

Step 1
Write, "You will stop on the 8 of diamonds" on a piece of paper and place the paper in your wallet. Place your wallet and the 8 of diamonds in your pocket.

Step 2
Give the deck of cards to a volunteer and ask her to shuffle the cards and deal them face down onto the table. Tell her to put the cards on the table randomly, stopping whenever they like.

Step 3
Take your wallet and the 8 of diamonds out of your pocket while she deals the cards. Keep the card hidden.

Step 4
Drop the wallet and inconspicuously drop the 8 of diamonds on top of the other cards on the table. Tell the volunteer to look in your wallet. After the volunteer finds the note, have her read it aloud. Practice this move, as this bit of sleight of hand is the most important part of the trick.

Step 5
Ask the volunteer to turn over the top card, where she will find the 8 of diamonds.
