If you've had your Yahoo! Mail account for awhile, you may have a cluttered inbox. It can get difficult to track old emails if you don't move them into folders. Fortunately, both the classic and current versions of Yahoo! Mail offer a way to create your own folders.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

    Classic Yahoo! Mail

  1. Step 1

Log in to your Yahoo! Mail account.

  2. Step 2

Choose "Options," located in the upper right side of the screen. Make sure "Mail" is selected in the Options menu on the left side of the screen.

  3. Step 3

Select "Filters" under the Management menu. Press the "Add" button.

  4. Step 4

Type in a name that describes what you'd like to filter in the "Filter Name" text box. Fill in one or all of the rules boxes to match what you would like to filter. Under the "Then…" heading, use the pull-down menu to select "[New Folder]." Click on the "Add Filter" button.

  5. Step 5

Enter the name of the new folder you would like to create in the dialog box that appears. Press "OK." Your folder is created.

  6. Step 6

Click on the "Mail" tab in the upper left of the screen to navigate back to the main Yahoo! Mail screen. You will see a new heading called "My Folders" on the left side menu that contains the folder you just created.

  7. New Yahoo! Mail

  8. Step 1

Log into your Yahoo! Mail account.

  9. Step 2

Find the menu item "My Folders" on the left side of the screen. Click on "Add" directly to the right of it.

  10. Step 3

Highlight the term "untitled" in the text box that appears. Type in a name for your folder and hit the Enter key.
