The Overhead Chop is a popular variation on the simple wrestling chop. What is spectacular about the Overhead Chop is its delivery. Commonly dealt from above, the Overhead Chop is also known as the Tomahawk Chop.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Watch professional wrestlers use the Overhead Chop on their opponents. The Overhead Chop is a popular move and can be found in many wrestling matches.

  2. Step 2

Allow your opponent to stand behind you. Lull your opponent into a false sense of security while you get into a position that aligns your arm with your opponent's head. He should be standing behind you and to your side. An opponent who stands directly behind you is safe from the Overhead Chop.

  3. Step 3

Flatten and stiffen your hand into a "blade." Keep your hand steady enough to sustain the impact with your opponent's body.

  4. Step 4

Swing your hand vertically and over your shoulder. Aim for your opponent's head. Your opponent should not be expecting the Overhead Chop. This action is similar to the Backhand Chop except that the emphasis is on your opponent's head.

  5. Step 5

    Strike your opponent's head.

  6. Step 6

After making contact, allow your opponent to stumble backwards and fall. Turn around quickly so that you can follow the Overhead Chop with another wrestling move.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wrestling is widely considered an exhibition rather than a sport and professional matches may very well be staged so that the wrestlers have little risk of injury. Don't try this if you're not professionally trained and remember that even a pro can get injured or can seriously injure an opponent with this move.
