Employees and employers both expect fair compensation for hours worked. Even with modern technology, you still must keep a personal record of your timesheets and check their accuracy. To review your timesheet follow these steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Obtain a desk calendar for recording your daily hours. Be sure to note how long your lunches are and subtract this time from your work hours.
Step2
Determine your pay schedule, and check your timesheet based on the pay periods. Errors often occur when vacation days or holidays are included in the pay period.
Step3
Track your hours daily against your timesheet. Since timesheets are usually passed out to employee's the Friday before the actual pay week, note the hours your worked for the particular pay period instead of weekly or monthly.
Step4
Calculate any vacation days used and subtract them from the total days you have remaining for the year. This is often an issue when the days don't coincide. You may not remember using a day or may not have received proper credit for the days.
Step5
Factor in your paid holidays. This will be important when you check your timesheet for reporting the hours your actually worked. It will also help you to determine if any overtime was included prior to the holiday. Most companies won't pay you overtime if a holiday is in the pay period.
Step6
Tally up the hours worked. Do not sign your time sheet if there are errors. Contact your supervisor or whomever verifies your timesheet to request any corrections. Verify the errors have been fixed, sign your timesheet and make a personal copy for yourself. Attach this copy to your calendar and place it in a file for future reference.
