How to Change the New Mail Sound in Eudora for Windows

Instead of checking your email every five minutes for that transmission you're expecting, you can set Eudora to play a sound with each new arrival. Customize this sound by following these steps.

1. Pick a sound. It might be a clip from a favorite song, a line from a favorite movie, the sound of a particular animal or just a pleasant, single note.
2. Go to the website WavSource to find sounds. From the main page of the website, choose a main category for the type of sound you want. Then choose a subcategory. You then see a listing of all of the .wav sounds available with descriptions. Hear a preview of the sound by left-clicking on the link.
3. Download a sound by right clicking on the link and choosing "Save Link As." Save the file on your hard drive in a location that is easy to find. The files from WavSource are free.
4. Open Eudora, and select "Options" from the Tools menu. Look for the "Getting Attention" section. Place a check next to "Play a Sound."
5. Click the button next to "Play a Sound" to choose the sound you downloaded. Navigate to the file on your hard drive, and then click the OK button.
6. Test your new Eudora email sound by sending yourself a test message. The sound should play as soon as you receive the message.

• Eudora can only use .wav files for new email sounds.
