Websites and search engines are geared toward pulling up anything with keywords and phrases. The right keywords will be the answer to getting your information seen. Brainstorm for keywords in order to get the most hits for your website or article.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Start with a concept. Think of what your subject matter is, whether it is what you are selling, writing about or what your site is about. Pick a few main words that will encompass your theme.
Step2
Write down every possible phrase or word that someone may use to find information on your subject. If you are a dog sitting service try "dog sitter," "dog care" and "doggie day care." Not every keyword or phrase is going to be a winner, but the point of brainstorming is to generate a lot of ideas.
Step3
Check on a general search engine to see if information close to your terms comes up. You may not find dog sitters under pet care, but anything is possible. It is good to know what other people are putting on the web, as well as how the consumer gets there.
Step4
Choose particular phrases. Try "at home dog sitting" or "dog sitting and training." This may help to focus the search directly to you. The point is to get as specific with your keywords as possible in order to direct web traffic directly to you.
Step5
Try search engine software. These will give you a number of hits for each keyword or phrase you type in. Brainstorm for keywords and then input them to see how they pan out.
