Step 1
Avoid using the zoom feature on your camera whenever possible. Zooming makes the shutter stay open longer, leaving more time for you to move your hands.
-
Step 2
Consider using a tripod to mount your camera. While not feasible for a camera phone, many tripods are available for digital and 35 mm cameras. Retractable tripods can be folded up and carried easily in a case. Set up the tripod where you are most likely to use it, to save time moving it around.
-
Step 3
Use a flash when the subject is close by. It will freeze the subject while the shutter is open.
-
Step 4
Rest your arm on a wall or other hard surface when taking a one-handed shot with a camera phone. If no surface is nearby, use your opposite hand to steady the extended arm holding the phone.
-
Step 5
Pull your elbows close into your body to steady your hands when using a digital or regular film camera. The less you extend your arms, the less shaking can go on.
-
Step 6
Brace your entire body by spreading your feet apart lightly. Take a deep breath and hold it while you evenly press the button to take the picture.
