How to Visit the US Naval Academy

Let the Navy stir your heart, the sea breeze energize your imagination and the crisp, white uniforms ignite your spirit as you visit the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Take a historical look back at the crypt of John Paul Jones a well known American Revolutionary War naval officer and a futuristic look forward as you rub shoulders with the Navy's finest.

      Go to the US Naval Academy (USNA) homepage and click on "Public Affairs Office" on the left hand menu. View upcoming special events at the United States Naval Academy that you may want to attend during your visit.

      Select "Visit USNA" from the menu. Click on "Visitor Center," which will take you to the USNA online store. To the right of the screen, click on the "Visitor Center--Information" link. This page will show you the tour schedule, visitors' hours and ticket prices.

      Activate the link at the top of the page for the "US Naval Academy Guide Service." You will find the address of the Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center, driving directions and parking suggestions. Read about exhibits you can view at the Visitor Center, an introductory film and guided walking tours. Everyone 16 years of age and older must show a photo ID when they visit the Academy.

      Notice the various types of tours you may take, as well as several educational tours and special events for school children. A one week Summer Seminar is held for high school students every summer. USNA admissions presentations are held Monday through Friday at 9 and 11 am, 2 and 4 pm and on Saturdays at 9 and 11 am.

      Make a reservation to tour the Academy. At the bottom of the page, download the reservation form, fill it out and email it to tourinfo@usna.edu. Notice that reservations must be made one month in advance. You can also fax the form to (410)293-3365 or call (410)293-8113 for further assistance. Await confirmation and follow the directions you receive for your visit.

      Arrive at the U.S. Naval Academy gate 1 entrance on the day of your visit. Show your photo ID and follow the sentry's directions to the Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center. Sign in with the receptionist and wait for a tour guide.

  • Place the tour you're interested in on the comments section of the reservation form. The Naval Academy offers different tours for various age groups. They also have veteran specific tours.
