Justin Timberlake started out on the Mickey Mouse Club and later became a member of one the most successful boy bands in history. Since 2002, however, Justin Timberlake has been a mega solo star selling millions of records throughout the world. Producers like The Neptunes and Timbaland give Timberlake a signature sound, but here's how to develop his unique soulful voice.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Listen to the icons of soul music. Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and Al Green are required listening for anyone searching for an inner soul singer. Feel the happiness and the pain.

  2. Step 2

Be eclectic in musical tastes. Inspiration comes in all shapes and sizes. Be a true original and combine styles to create a brand new voice.

  3. Step 3

Practice singing all the time. Practice makes perfect. Practice allows flaws to come to the surface.

  4. Step 4

Stay in shape. Breathing affects singing. When the body is exerting energy for extended periods of time and breathing is under control, singing ability will improve.

  5. Step 5

Take care of the voice. Tea and lemon always does the trick when the voice is not in good shape. Get plenty of rest. Rock stars may stay up all night, but real soul singers need eight hours on a consistent basis.

  6. Step 6

Show some attitude. All of the great singers are not necessarily great singers. Sometimes it's more about confidence. Let everyone in the room know a singer is on the stage.

  7. Step 7

Sing great songs. Great songs have words that produce emotions. Heart and emotion are key elements of any singing style.
