"The Late Show With David Letterman" is taped in New York City at the famous Ed Sullivan Theater. You can get free tickets to this popular talk show either online or in person, or you can be placed on a stand-by list. Group tickets are also available for a limited time. Read the steps below to claim your free tickets to the show.

      Go to CBS.com and click the link to "Late Show With David Letterman" on the main page. At the show's page, click "Show Info," then go to "Get Tickets."

      Use the Online Ticket Form from the "Get Tickets" page to submit your request for free tickets. Enter your name, phone number, email address and the name of one guest. Choose three dates when you would like to attend the show. Hit the "Send" button to submit the form.

      Visit the Ed Sullivan Theater if you happen to live in the area or are just visiting. Speak to a show representative in the lobby of the theater to get tickets in person. Arrive between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm Monday through Friday, or between 10 am and 6 pm on Saturday or Sunday. You will be contacted by phone if you're randomly selected for tickets.

      Sign up for group tickets online if you want to visit the show with at least 10 of your closest friends. Fill out the number of tickets requested, along with the name, phone number and email of the group contact. Choose the dates that you and your group would like to attend. Answer a few questions such as how do you know each other and why you'd like to bring your group to the show.

      Call the show's phone number if you would like to receive stand-by tickets. You must call by 11 am on the day that you want to attend. Expect to be placed on the stand-by list in the order that your call is received. Go to the theater one hour before taping. If seats are available after all of the other guests have arrived, then you will be admitted to the taping.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you apply for tickets online, you must correctly answer a trivia question about the show in order to receive them. The two tickets you'll receive must match the information on your registration form.

  • You cannot transfer your tickets to anyone else. Only you and your guests will be allowed into the show. Prepare to show ID with your birth date and address for verification.

  • Because of the high demand for tickets, you can only visit a taping once every six months.
