Orientations generally provide a wealth of information about the school and the services it has to offer academically and socially. Some important support services that help students succeed at technical school include career services, tutoring services, learning resource center privileges and more.

Be honest and realistic with yourself. If you do not like the way you are doing in school, figure out what you need to do to change it. Ask questions and seek advice from instructors and counselors when needed. They are there to help you get the most out of the education you are paying for.

Attend all classes and be there on time. Many people who attend technical college have family and work obligations. Keep these obligations in mind when scheduling your classes. Failure to comply with your school's attendance guidelines often results in failing the class. If you have a personal issue that needs attention or that requires your absence from class, consult with your instructor ahead of time or in a timely manner to see how this affects your grade.
