Step1
Start writing small pieces to become familiar with the market. You can write for online publications, websites and magazines. You can also write for an offline company.
Step2
Use your own website to advertise your writing services. If you write articles or reviews you can make a page specifically for your writing services. Your website will already be a part of your portfolio and you can then send samples of other writing you have done.
Step3
Get involved in freelance writers forums, message boards or groups. Writers learn from writers and you can learn a lot from people that have been writing for years.
Step4
Submit your pieces and articles for consideration in newspapers, online publications and magazines. Check the submission guidelines before you submit, and do not be hurt if you get a rejection letter once in awhile. All writers have been rejected one time or another.
Step5
Put together information for an Ebook. People sell their Ebooks all the time to other curious buyers. There are many knowledge seekers out there in the online and offline world. If you know about something specific or specialize in particular subject, then start writing about it and offer your expertise to get paid.
