Step 1
Purchase double skewers that are connected to one another at one end. These skewers can be found at specialty cooking stores or online at stores such as Williams-Sonoma. Stainless steel skewers will last the longest and ensure that the tines do not rust out. An alternative method of double skewers is simply to purchase enough single skewers and double them up for each kabob. It is harder to double skewer a kabob with this method as the tines on single skewers are often thicker.

Step 2
Cut the meat and vegetables large enough to be threaded by double skewers. One and a half inches is the average for double skewers.
-
Step 3
Grip the handled end of the skewers and thread each piece of food on to the skewers. The food should nestled up against each other, but not so close that the heat from the grill has difficulty reaching inside each piece.
-
Step 4
Spray the grill with cooking oil when heated. Place each kabob on the grill, broad side face down. Cook an average of six to eight minutes, depending on the size of the food and type. Flip the kabobs over and continue to grill the other side.

Step 5
Soak the skewers in a drop of dishwashing soap and water when finished. Toss wooden skewers into the garbage.
