Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Choose the nipple that best fits your child's mouth and stage of development. A newborn doesn't really need the orthodontic nipple since they have no teeth. Flat topped nipples most resemble a mother's breast, so breast fed babies may take to these better
Step2
Pick bottles that you won't mind maintaining. Disposable bottles have non reusable bags and you have to buy replacement bags as needed. Plastic bottles will need to be washed and kept clean between uses. Check to see if the bottles are both dishwasher and microwaveable safe.
Step3
Read and follow the age range suggestion from the bottles manufacturer. They know their clientele and who they are creating bottles for. Most manufactures make bottles for each stage that the baby will gown into.
Step4
Buy one type of bottle and nipple at a time. You may like everything about the bottle you have chosen, but the baby doesn't like it and won't drink from it, or it may flow to quickly or slowly. In the end, the baby will have the final word, so to speak.
Step5
Talk to other mothers, especially those who have had other children about any stories, mishaps or advice they may have for choosing the bottle that they did.
