Step 1
Write down your questions and concerns before you use the GLBT National Hotline. Issues surrounding relationships, health and sexuality are often very personal. You'll have an easier time explaining the reasons for your call, if you write them down in advance.
-
Step 2
Understand the services that the GLBT National Hotline offers. The main hotline is for all individuals. The Youth Talkline, which is staffed by volunteers in their teens and early twenties, is specifically for teenagers and young adults.
-
Step 3
Know the issues that GLBT National Hotline volunteers address with callers. Volunteers are available to discuss HIV, AIDS, coming out, family issues, dating issues and more.
-
Step 4
Decide whether you want to contact the GLBT National Hotline over the phone or via e-mail. Both options are available.
-
Step 5
Call the hotline when volunteers are there. GLBT National Hotline volunteers are available from 4 p.m. to midnight Eastern time Monday though Friday and from noon to 5 p.m. Eastern time Saturday. Youth Talkline volunteers are available from 8 p.m. to midnight Eastern time Monday through Friday.

on 7/8/2009 Hi. As the Executive Director of the GLBT National Help Center, which operates both the GLBT National Hotline and the GLBT National Youth Talkline, I think the suggestions listed are terrific! But I also wanted to include our toll-free hotline phone numbers. The number for the GLBT National Hotline is 1-888-843-4564 and the toll-free number for the GLBT National Youth Talkline is 1-800-246-PRIDE (1-800-246-7743). You can also reach us online at www.GLBTNationalHelpCenter.org .
With Pride,
