In 1968 the Public Relations Society of America founded the Public Relations Student Society of America. The PRSSA aims to offer students who study public relations access to professional opportunities to enhance their knowledge of public relations. The organization also serves established public relations professionals by ensuring those entrants into the field of public relations are as qualifies as possible.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Learn how the Public Relations Student Society of America benefits its members. As a member, you have the opportunity to become involved in national public relations programs. You are exposed to a variety of professional development, educational and leadership opportunities and have the chance to network with public relations professionals all over the country. Members also have the benefit of traveling to cities around the United States to attend the group's annual national conference.

  2. Step 2

Decide if you want to join the PRSSA. If your college has a chapter, contact the chapter president to obtain instructions on joining the PRSSA. Your college must have a chapter in order for you to become a member. Students who are enrolled at a college that has a PRSSA chapter may join the organization in either March or November. There is a minimal fee to join.

  3. Step 3

Get a PRSSA chapter started at your college if your school does not have a chapter. See if your college or university qualifies by visiting the "Establishing a New Chapter " page at the PRSSA website, or contact the Public Relations Society of America at 33 Maiden Lane, 11th Floor, New York, NY 10038.
