Nymphadora Tonks, also known as Tonks, is an auror for the Ministry of Magic. We first get to meet Tonks in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. She is a metamorphmagus. This means she can change her appearance at will. This makes doing a costume a bit of a challenge.

Dye your hair a "violent shade of violet." Though Tonks is a metamorphmagus, and can change her hair color at will, this seems to be a favorite shade. You can consider bright pink as well. Beauty supply stores have temporary hair colors in great shades.

Style your hair in short spikes. Tonks wears her hair in a very punk fashion. Her distinctive style could help you seem more like her. Use lots of styling gel to get great spikes.

Learn to change your nose. Tonks often changes the appearance of her nose to entertain Ginny Weasley and Hermione Granger at the supper table. It is great fun and they have favorite noses that they pick, to include one that resembles a pig snout. Consider carrying several fake noses with you to change.

Tonks has a very modern hip attitude compared to others with The Order of the Phoenix. She is also very clumsy, frequently tripping and breaking things. To get into character, you may want to practice this.
If you do not wish to dye your hair or change your nose, you can buy a violet wig. Many costume stores now offer them in the Harry Potter sections.
