NetGear is a familiar name to computer hardware buyers. NetGear products can be found in many electronics retail stores. The NetGear website directs consumers toward products that the company calls "terrific" and designed for optimal use: "Count on them for ease-of-use, quality, reliability and security."

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Find the NetGear corporate site on the Internet. The NetGear site is a repository for resources related to NetGear's product line.
Step2
Different NetGear products can be accessed under the three categories on the page: Home Networking, Business Networking, or Broadband Providers. Click on one of these to view relevant products.
Step3
Click on "Routers and Gateways" to view the line of NetGear wireless routers.
Step4
Choose a product type/model by clicking on the image of the router. A description of the router will appear. Read this to see if the model is what you are looking for to work with your existing wireless system, or if it's sufficient to help you set up a new wireless network.
Step5
NetGear offers a variety of ways to buy its products. Routers can be bought directly at NetGear's online store at BuyNetGear.com. Register on the site to utilize NetGear's shopping cart system. Be sure to read the policies on warranties and returns located in the links on the far left of the page.
Step6
For alternative options, go back to the Where to Buy page. Select "Online Stores" to see a list of online providers of NetGear products. For a list of 'bricks and mortar' retailers, check out the Retail Locator link.

Tips & Warnings

  • Write down the full model number of the router you want to purchase. If you're not using NetGear's shopping cart, having the model number will come in handy for reference when you find your supplier.
  • The NetGear site utilizes Flash 7, as shown at the top of the page. The site can be navigated without Flash 7, and the NetGear store can be accessed as well, but some options may not be available if your computer doesn't support the program. Generally, it's not a big problem to use the site without the Flash product, but some items may be missing.
