Step 1
Consider what you will use a GPS for. Bushnell focuses on sports optics and outdoor technology, so most of their GPS products are built for outdoor enthusiasts. Their ONIX series of receivers are rugged, waterproof hand-helds with long battery lives, some can run continuously for up to 25 to 30 hours. Safetrack™ technology conserves battery power by putting the display to sleep, while optional alarms can let you know if you stray from the course.
-
Step 2
Think about how you like to navigate. Bushnell offers TruView™ navigation which uses geo-referenced aerial photographs to give an overview of a location. It allows you to see features on the landscape instead of just navigating by points on a maps. You can overlay a digital compass, aerial photos, maps and way points to help you navigate.
-
Step 3
Choose which Bushnell receiver you want by considering which features you need and how much you can spend. The ONIX200 has a 16-level gray scale display and receivers 12 parallel channels. The ONIX200CR has a full-color LCD display and a 20 channel SiRF GPS receiver. The ONIX400 has a full-color LCD display and XM Satellite Radio, which can access entertainment and overlay XM Weather radar on to your map display. The NAV500 is a portable in car mapping GPS.
-
Step 4
Check out Bushnell's website to compare products, buy accessories or download maps and aerial photos. Bushnell GPS receivers aren't sold from the company's website, but there is a dealer locator on the site so you can find a store that carries Bushnell products in your area.
