Step 1
Pick the player you are going to analyze. Rebound rate doesn't work for entire teams; it only works for individuals. If you wish to compare multiple individuals, you need to complete these steps each time to get the rebound rate for each individual player.
-
Step 2
Access a player's statistics from the boxscore. To accurately calculate rebound rate, you will need to know the number of rebounds the player totaled along with the number of minutes the player played.
-
Step 3
Find team stats for both the team the player you are analyzing and the teams your player went against. You need to know the total number of rebounds for the team and the total number of rebounds for the opponent. You also need a total number of minutes the two teams played.
-
Step 4
Add together the number of team rebounds for both teams. Multiply the result by the number of minutes the player played.
-
Step 5
Multiply the number of rebounds the individual tallied by the number of total team minutes played. Take this number, and divide it by the resulting number from the previous step. After dividing the two numbers, the result is the rebound rate for the player.
