In European basketball leagues, two-point percentage is a common statistic. However in the United States, two-point percentage is tracked far less. Two-point percentage tells you how good a player is at making two-point field goal attempts.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Find a box score for the basketball game in which you want to calculate a player's two-point percentage. The box score needs to list at least field goals made, field goals attempted, three-pointers made and three-pointers attempted. If the player you wish to calculate two-point percentage for plays in the NBA, you can locate the box score on the official website of the NBA. On the homepage of the website, click on the "Scores" link and a list of box scores will appear. Click on the appropriate box score to get the statistics you need.
Step2
Locate the number of field goal attempts the player attempted. This should be under the column typically labeled as "FGA" in the box score. Then locate the number of three-pointers attempted. This is typically listed under the column labeled "3PA" in the box score.
Step3
Subtract the number of three-point field goal attempts from the number of field goal attempts. The resulting number is the number of two-pointers attempted.
Step4
Subtract the number of three-point field goal attempts from the number of field goal attempts. The resulting number is the number of two-pointers attempted.
Step5
Divide the number of two-pointers made by the number of two-pointers attempted.
Step6
Change the resulting number into a percentage. Generally, the number is rounded to the nearest tenth of a percentage. For example, if the player made six two-pointers out of eleven attempts. Dividing six by eleven equals .545. Therefore, the players two-point percentage was 54.5 percent for the game.
