Things You'll Need:
- Pencil and paper
- Calculator

Step 1
Create two sections on a piece of paper by drawing a vertical line down the middle. In one section, place a mark when the player you are tracking makes a three-pointer. In the other section, place a mark when the player you are tracking attempts a three-pointer.
-
Step 2
Keep an eye on the referee and the scoreboard to ensure whether or not a shot attempt is a three-pointer. The referee places both arms in the air if a shot attempt is a three-pointer. If the shot attempt is a two-pointer, the referee only places one arm in the air. Another way to double-check whether a made shot is a two-pointer or a three-pointer is to keep track of the score. Obviously, if the score increases by three points after a shot, the preceding shot was a three-pointer.
-
Step 3
Total each section at the end of the game. Count each mark you made for three-pointers made and three-pointers attempted.
-
Step 4
Divide the number of three-pointers made by the number of three-pointers attempted. The result should be a number between zero and one.
-
Step 5
Move the decimal point two places to the right to make the number a percentage. It's customary to round the percentage to the nearest tenth of a percentage. For example, if a player makes two of six three-pointers, that player's three-point percentage is 33.3 percent.
