Since prehistoric times human beings have been drawn to the beauty and power of crystals. Crystals are thought by many to have the ability to balance our mental, spiritual, emotional and physical well being. If you are interested in these healing properties and would like to buy a crystal for yourself, there are a few things that you should know.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a crystal dealer. New Age bookstores, museum gift shops and rock and fossil stores are all common carriers of crystals. Keep an eye out for gem and mineral shows, which are great places to buy and learn about crystals. It is also possible to buy crystals over the Internet from a wide variety of specialists.

  2. Step 2

Practice your intuition when buying a crystal from the Internet. Since it is not possible to touch the crystal, you will have to search photos until you find yourself excited by one in particular. If you feel a strong urge to purchase a crystal, you may need its energy in your life. For example, if you feel drawn to a rose quartz crystal, this may signify that you need something to help you through mourning or recover from a loss.

  3. Step 3

Cleanse your crystal, after purchase, to release old energy and prepare the stone to work with you. Cleanse a crystal by submerging it in salt water for a few days, then rinsing under running water. You may also bury a crystal in a garden, leave it in a slow-running stream, or simply leave it outside to bask in the moonlight. All of these methods will cleanse and rejuvenate the healing energy of a crystal.

Tips & Warnings
  • Allow the crystal to choose you. Relax your mind, close your eyes, and a single crystal should "call" to you. Hold the crystal in the palm of your hand, getting a sense of its energy.
